Business incubators and science parks are entities that promote innovative projects. Business incubators provide support to entrepreneurs in developing innovative ideas and transforming them into successful projects. To this end, they offer infrastructure and management support, guiding entrepreneurs in managing the business and its competitiveness, among other issues that are essential to the development of a company.
According to a study carried out in 2011 by Anprotec in partnership with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Brazil has 384 incubators in operation, which benefit 2,640 companies and generate 16,394 jobs. These incubators have graduated 2,509 projects, currently generating revenue of R$ 4.1 billion and 29,205 jobs.
The science parks, in turn, form a scientific-technology-based industrial production and services complex. They are formally planned complexes of a cooperative nature, which unite companies whose production is based on Research and Development (R&D). The parks act as promoters of the innovation, competitiveness and business training culture, based on knowledge and technology transfer with the goal of fostering the production of wealth in a particular region.
