Luiz Márcio Spinosa

Visiting Researcher at Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, and Vice-Coordinator of the national innovation systems and models of the Triple Helix Association. His current work focuses on theoretical and field consulting on: a) innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge representation, b) public policies, management practices, and processes for shaping innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems, and c) the mutual effects of smart cities and innovation ecosystems. He has worked in various private and public organizations and held leadership positions, such as: Full Professor and Researcher at Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) (1999-2018), Coordinator of the Innovation Office (2014-2017) at the Brazilian Institute of Quality and Productivity. Director of the Innovation Agency (2009-2013), Director of Tecnoparque PUCPR (2009-2013), Director of Strategic Planning and Integration (2006-2008), Director of the Institute of Technology and Science (2006-2008), Coordinator of the PUCPR Technology Consulting Network (2008-2009), General Coordinator of Strategic Areas of S&T (2017-present), all at PUCPR. From 1999-2003, he was Coordinator of the Paraná World-Class ICT, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Program at the State Secretariat for Science and Technology (SETI). Postdoctoral Fellow in Innovation at the University of California, Berkeley (USA), Doctorate and Master’s (DEA) in Informatics and Produtronics from the University of Aix-Marseille (FR), Specialist in Innovation from the University of Texas (USA) and Simon Fraser University (CAN), Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor’s in Computer Science from UFSC. In 2018, he obtained a Certificate of Specialization in Designing a Smart Specialization Strategy, MOOC, from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. He owns two startups, KnowIn – Knowledge and Innovation Agents – and Akrivós – S&T in Healthy Industry. Some organizations that have benefited from his consulting, projects, and courses include: PUCPR, UFSC, Itaipu/PTI, Nokia, Siemens, LEGO, Sofhar, White Martins S/A, Sisgraph S/A, Volvo CE, Racco, Amvali, SETI, CITS, Tecpar, NTS-Brasil, Softex, IBQP, FIEP, and Esprit-EU. He has coordinated over 50 technology development projects in Brazil and abroad, with more than one hundred articles published.
